which books ?? Can't Post

I have just recently started practising yoga and would like to purchase a/some book(s) to help me practise at home. Having looked around I am finding it all very confusing and am unsure as to what would be the best for me to buy at this stage. Also what is the difference between Light On Yoga and the Illustrated Light on Yoga which of these is the best ? I would appreciate some informed advice .

Thank you.

Some of the best books to begin with;

Yoga : The Iyengar Way by Silva Mehta
Yoga : The Path to Holistic Health by BKS Iyengar

"Illustrated Light on Yoga" is essentially the beginners' material from "Light on Yoga". The picture illustrations are enlarged for easy viewing.

Any or both of them would be an excellent addition to your library.

I would suggest "The Path to Holistic Health by BKS Iyengar" for beginners.

It does not take you to the complex postures the next day. But the asanas selected in that book are excellent and basic for a yoga practice. I feel all other asanas can be placed in level 2 to those in this book.

Also it has good pictures, so you can feel if you are doing correct or not.

Before that, you need to visit this page http://www.bradpriddy.com/yoga/gen.htm. Take time to read the article 3 or 4 times. And register in your mind that "yoga is a slow practice".

If you work really really hard, 24/7, you may get the most difficult asana in 2 months. But that is not the goal.

In yoga, always the Mind goes first, breath follows and the body.
