I would suggest "The Path to Holistic Health by BKS Iyengar" for beginners. It does not take you to the complex postures the next day. But the asanas selected in that book are excellent and basic for a yoga practice. I feel all other asanas can be placed in level 2 to those in this book. Also it has good pictures, so you can feel if you are doing correct or not. Before that, you need to visit this page http://www.bradpriddy.com/yoga/gen.htm. Take time to read the article 3 or 4 times. And register in your mind that "yoga is a slow practice". If you work really really hard, 24/7, you may get the most difficult asana in 2 months. But that is not the goal. In yoga, always the Mind goes first, breath follows and the body.
