mantra & practice Can't Post

at the end of practice, our teacher repeat a mantra, it is about peace (...om shanti shanti shanti) and at the end of sharvasan we all appreciate hearing it. my question : wjhen i practice alone, at the end of my own practice, i usually repeat it in my mind, but i am wondering if it is a good thing or not, maybe i should just remain silent, even in myself, what is your opinion about it?

This is a very good mantra but you must do what feels good to you.

a mantra should be given by someone who knows you (your longtime teacher for instance) or shall you find it yourself? at what moment shall you repeat your mantra? a last thing: maybe mantra are not necessary at all; what do you think ?

Mantras being given by one's teacher is the traditional manner; and I suppose if we were in India this is the way we would receive it. It is my opinion that mantra is something to center us within ourselves; after all, all things come from within. I say mantra in the morning before my cultivation period; I do not see why one could not be said at any time of the day, as long as one is respectful and genuine.
