Solar Plexus Can't Post

I have just startred studying Iyengar Yoga, last week in class we were doing back bends (introduction) & afterwards I felt nauseas. My Yoga teacher commented "we were stirring up the solar plexus which can lead to nausea".. Why? She mentioned something about energy, particularly male energy & that stirring this arae up & feelin ill was "all good"! Seems srtange to me?

Any ideas what it all means, should I continue??

Re: Solar Plexus [In reply to] Can't Post

When you do backbends, you stretch the liver and digestive organs and that can make you feel a little nauseous if you're not used to it. Also, any gripping in the abdomen due to anxiety or inexperience can impede your breathing and the movement of the diaphragm and can lead to nausea. It will most definitely go away with continued practice. The front of the body is considered male, sun, yang; and the back of the body is considered female, moon, yin. Backbends are rather advanced so don't force, don't overstay in the poses, work through your legs and arms more, precede with lots of shoulder openings, and keep practicing the basic standing poses more and more.
